WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME?!?!?

i don't know why i'm like this. i have everything ready: LOADS of patterns, a good amount of fabric, PLENTY of thread & notions, a sewing machine and a serger.....all ready to go. but how come i can't get started with a project?

i mean, i have, but....let me explain...

1st project (around
this time last year) -
my first time working with knits....started sewing a shirt wi
th my sewing machine, read up on it and found out it would be loads easier to do with a serger. decided to put it on hold until that time. finally got a serger in dec, but have not picked up where i left off with the shirt. why? cos i have to unstitch what i've already started....

2nd project (around september '08) - a japanese knot bag....saw the pattern, fell totally in love with it and set out to sew it. cut out enough for three bags. started sewing the first bag and the bottom did not match up with the top. got frustrated trying to correct it and put it away. :(

3rd project (christmas day '08) - started
on the anda dress from burdastyle.com. i cut it out of an old, cool looking
bedsheet...even added binding to the sleeves. it wasn't half bad! but then, when i went to serge the sides of the dress...i guess i hadn't practiced enough cos i took ALOT off on the right side...i didn't keep it straight to serge the seam allowances correctly. guess what? i got frustrated and put it away.

4th project (early january) - my sister picked out a pattern of a purse from simplicity. she was planning on moving, so i wanted to hurry and finish it up for her before she left. i cut it out, added the interfacing, sewed it up and thought it looked really good! i showed it to her and she asked if i could make the straps longer!!! :( needless to say, i haven't gotten around to it.

I think my problem is that i get really frustrated. i feel like i can get really good at it...it's just little things, like actually sewing a straight seam, or making my seams straight that really throw me off. have any of you ever felt like this? something that kept you from doing something you love? i'm looking forward to any advice or similiar stories.

I will add pictures later of the projects. :-)

crafts are my sanctuary

i don't remember what really got me interested. i think i just started admiring knitted stuff and thought to myself: i can do that! then i caught an episode of knitty gritty and i feel in love with vickie howell...the way she dressed, her cool hair and especially her talent! soon after, i came across the 1st issue of Craft magazine and  when i saw the 3rd issue (the one with Aranzi Aronzo's kitties on the cover) i decided to subscribe. since then, my interest has run the gamut: from knitting to crocheting (that didn't fare too well, i could never get around to making a proper (i forgot what they're called!) magic circle?, sewing, embroidery, pretty much anything that catches my eye.

i just love it. i love all the things that are associated with crafts. the blogs, the pictures, the patterns, everything!!!!

awwww! he's the cutest!

my boyfriend is the best & the cutest! unfortunately, i wasn't home on valentine's day, so he volunteered to feed my cat while i was gone.

when i got back the following day, i found on my bed: a sewing machine case, some serger thread and a tim & eric season 2 dvd. what a surprise!

i know he kind of worried what to get me, but he did good! :-*
